Primary care teams are increasingly encountering patients experiencing persistent fatigue, energy crashes, dizziness, and other symptoms that can be difficult to recognize and manage. Conditions such as postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS), other forms of dysautonomia, and post-exertional symptom exacerbation (PESE) can present with overlapping and challenging symptoms, particularly following illnesses such as COVID-19.
This session will focus on recognizing common presentations, identifying potential causes and triggers, and implementing practical first-line management strategies in primary care settings. Attendees will learn screening questions, patient education approaches, at-home symptom management strategies, and when to consider referral for physical therapy or other structured rehabilitation. The session will be co-led by a physical therapist and rehabilitation medicine physician, providing both clinical and rehabilitation perspectives.
