Tobacco use continues to be the leading cause of preventable death and disease in Missouri—and rural communities are feeling the burden most, with smoking rates as high as three times the national average. In this session, Kayla Langford, Cessation Specialist with the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services Tobacco Prevention and Control Program, will walk attendees through the latest statistics on tobacco use and exposure in Missouri. Learn how the state is applying evidence-based strategies to help people quit, reduce secondhand smoke, curb youth tobacco use, and promote tobacco-free environments.
Participants will also be equipped with practical tools like the “Ask, Advise, Refer” model and information about the free Missouri Tobacco Quit Services.
