No Stroke of Luck: Preventing & Responding to Stroke

When:  Apr 16, 2026 from 12:00 to 13:00 (CT)

Despite significant advances in prevention and treatment, stroke remains the fifth leading cause of death in the United States and a primary cause of long-term disability. Rural communities continue to experience a disproportionate burden of stroke-related risk and outcomes, including here in Missouri.

In this session, staff from the American Heart Association will provide an overview of the current stroke landscape in rural Missouri and review evidence-based best practices for stroke prevention and response in healthcare settings. Participants will also be introduced to American Heart Association tools and resources that support education, risk reduction, and timely response, benefiting healthcare organizations, community partners, and individuals alike.
