Many for-profit Missouri healthcare providers are unknowingly overpaying sales tax on essential medical supplies due to long-standing confusion in state tax law. Working in collaboration with the Missouri Department of Revenue’s General Counsel, Agile Consulting Group helped clarify that prosthetic devices are fully exempt from sales tax no longer requiring proof of a “permanently inoperative” organ. This informative session will explain how healthcare organizations can take advantage of the clarified exemption to eliminate unnecessary overcharges, request refunds for past overpayments (up to 10 years back), and implement systems to ensure compliance moving forward. Participants will leave with a clear understanding of which supplies now qualify as prosthetic devices and practical next steps to secure substantial cost savings for their organizations.
Target Audience: For-profit healthcare providers, CFOs, Controllers, Tax Directors, Finance/Accounting Directors, Administrators, Surgery Center Directors, and Business Office Managers.
